Special Statement
Issued: 4:23 PM AKDT May. 27, 2017 – National Weather Service

... A very wet Memorial Day weekend on tap along the Gulf Coast
and Prince William Sound...

Steady rain will continue to overspread the Gulf Coast and Prince
William Sound regions this evening and will persist into Monday.
This includes Seward, Whittier, Valdez, and Cordova along with the
Seward Highway corridor from Girdwood down to Seward. The rain
will be heavy at times, especially along the coast from Seward to
Whittier, where rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected. For
the other aforementioned areas, look for 1 to 2 inches of rain.
Rain should begin to let up a bit during the day Monday, possibly
even tapering off in coastal areas by Monday afternoon.
Accompanying the rain will be 20 to 30 knot winds through Prince
William Sound, so small craft boaters should prepare ahead of time
for higher winds and seas.

Meanwhile, inland areas of southcentral Alaska will remain mostly
dry through Sunday, with just a few passing showers. Skies will
remain mostly cloudy with high temperatures generally in the 50s.
It looks more likely for showers to spread inland Monday as the
main system lifts north, however, these showers should be on the
lighter side.
